Great start to the year for our charities with generous donations from shoppers

Given the recent cost of living crisis, we have been amazed at the generous charity donations from local shoppers in recent months.

The centre’s piano, regularly played by musically gifted volunteers, features a permanent charity donation bucket and the Centre Management Team was delighted to discover this has raised a total of £700 since the last count in 2022. This will be donated to one of the shopping centre’s charities of choice, Stella’s Voice, to support Ukrainian refugees.

But the good news doesn’t end there. In December last year, our popular Christmas Grotto returned with all proceeds being donated to charity. A well-loved family event, this raised a total of £2,100 which will be divided between three worthwhile local charities, The Beacon Food Bank, Rowans, and Chestnut Tree House. Mayor Cllr Diana Patrick will be presenting each of these charities with the donations at the centre on the 28th February.

Centre Manager, Rob Fryer said: ‘I am amazed at the local generosity with yet another superb figure for the charities that we are proud to support. We’ve recently added up all the donations since 2012 and were staggered to find that a total of £28,632 has been donated from our wonderful shoppers, via both our piano donations and Christmas Grotto.’
