Falklands Memorial Bench Unveiled in the Centre

To mark Falklands Memorial Day, a memorial bench was unveiled in the Centre on Wednesday 14th June, by Councillor Alex Rennie and Mayor of Havant, Rosy Raines. They were joined by representatives from the armed forces, past and present, during a short service to commemorate the liberation of the Island by British forces in 1982.

Made by Havant Men’s Sheds and donated by local business Lockheed Martin, the memorial bench acts as a fitting reminder to our community of the lives lost and the sacrifices of so many people in war and conflict.

Councillor Alex Rennie, Leader of Havant Borough Council, said: “The huge crowds that attend the Remembrance service in the town centre demonstrates the deep affection our residents have for our armed forces and all they do across the globe to protect the freedoms we enjoy today.”
