Type 1 Diabetes – Screen to Intervene

You are invited to join the NHS ELSA Study, which is screening children aged 3-13 years to find out their risk of getting Type 1 Diabetes.

This involves a simple finger stick blood test and further support will be offered by the ELSA Study team.

The ELSA team will be in Meridian Shopping Centre on the following dates from 10a.m. to 1p.m. for more information or to take part:

  • Friday 28th July
  • Friday 25th August

Why?

We want to help children who may develop type 1 diabetes, by getting them the treatment they need sooner and stop them from becoming too unwell.

How?

The majority of children will only need a simple finger-prick blood test. Less than 1 in 100 children will need some further blood tests.

Where?

You can do the finger-prick test with your child at home, or pop into the Meridian Shopping Centre on the dates above to find out more info and / or have the finger-prick blood test. www.elsadiabetes.nhs.uk

If you want to participate, you can pre-register here (following the instructions on the page), or in the centre on the day.
