Meridian Celebrates the 80th Anniversary of VE Day

Join Us for a Joyous VE Day Celebration at Meridian Shopping Centre!

This year marks a remarkable milestone – 80 years since the nation came together to celebrate VE Day, marking the end of World War II in Europe.

To commemorate this historic anniversary, Meridian Shopping Centre will be hosting a day full of celebrations on Saturday 10th May, and we would love for you to join us.

Step back in time and enjoy an exciting line-up of 1940s-themed dance performances from talented local groups: SD Studios, Southzone Dance Academy, and Swatridges Academy of Dance. Adding to the nostalgic atmosphere, local singer Archie Mac will be performing a selection of wartime classics and 1940s favourites throughout the day.

Boswell’s Café will be getting into the spirit with exclusive VE Day offers*:

– Special VE Day Cream Tea for only £8pp, served with a Union Flag napkin! (pot of tea, scone, clotted cream, jam & finger sandwiches.  Choose from cheese/tom/pickle or ham/tom/pickle)

From 11.30am the next 80 customers who buy a cake can get a drink for only 80p! (pot of tea or regular coffee)

There’s also plenty of opportunities to win prizes, including a tombola prize draw with Beacon Foodbank and wonderful giveaways from our tenants, plus we will be running a competition on social media to win a Spitfire clock, tie-slide and cufflinks set generously donated by F.Hinds.

We are also proud to showcase some Anniversary Bunting created by pupils from Bosmere Junior School, which will add a vibrant community touch to our information boards, and the Poppy Appeal will be on site with a special VE Day pin badge.

Come and be part of a day filled with music, dancing, community spirit and a real sense of celebration as we honour this important anniversary together. We look forward to welcoming you!

*Boswell’s exclusive offers are available on Saturday 10th May only, whilst stocks last.
