Toys R Us Grand Opening Success

Toys R Us has officially opened in WHSmith at The Meridian, with the grand opening on Saturday 19th October, families flocked to the return of the beloved toy store.

People queued outside before the opening at 9am with the first 50 children receiving free goody bags worth over £15.

Geoffrey the Giraffe also joined the team for an official ribbon cutting ceremony, before greeting visitors to the store throughout the morning.

Reah Goddard (@me_us_and_autism on Instagram) posted to say that her son, Alfie, has had a special interest in Toys R Us and especially Geoffrey the Giraffe, for quite some time.

“Having watched hours of documentaries on YouTube of the rise and fall of the business, every single TV advert over the years, people visiting abandoned stores and now the buzz of the new stores opening, Alfie was absolutely buzzing to know that one was opening only 10 mins away.

“His happy face makes it all worth it. I have a feeling this is not the only time we shall be visiting,” posted Reah.

Mike Douglas ( @mike_douglas_ on Instagram) also shared to say that “it was really great to see how successful the opening day (on Saturday) went and how excited everyone is about the new store.

“We are already looking forward to our next visit.”
