Get sorted for the new season

With summer soon drawing to a close, a new season is on the horizon, and with it, the perfect time to refresh your life and home.  Autumn is not just about warm clothing and pumpkin spice lattes (although we are looking forward to the autumnal drinks that will soon be coming to Costa Coffee!), it’s also an ideal season for decluttering your space and taking stock of your health.

Here’s a few ways you can embrace the transition from summer to autumn by clearing out the old and making room for the new.

Declutter Your Living Space

The change in seasons is a great reminder to tackle the clutter that’s been accumulating in your home. A clean, organised space not only looks better but also improves your mental well-being.

As the weather cools, it’s time to swap out those summer clothes for your warmer wear.  Take the time to assess what you actually wear and love, and consider donating items you haven’t worn all summer.  Box up any items you want to keep for next year.  One Beyond has some great storage options and you can save on storage space with their scented vacuum bags.

Identify items that you no longer use or aren’t necessary for the upcoming months.  Why not take a look at all those old DVDs that the kids are now too old for?  Head to CeX and you could make some money on old or unwanted DVDs and computer games.

Have a home office?  If you have piles of old paperwork or old bills, shred any sensitive documents with this shredder from WHSmith, then store papers you need to keep in a stylish folder or file box:

WHSmith – Q-Connect Q12CC Cross-Cut Shredder – £136.99

WHSmith Mint Green Home file – £7.80

Keep jewellery from getting lost or cluttering up your bedroom by investing in a jewellery box, such as this one from F.Hinds, or decorate your own with the range of wooden boxes in The Works.

F.Hinds – Stackers Grey Mint Classic Jewellery Box – £62.99

The Works – Wooden Hexagon Box – £4.00

New scents in the home are an easy way to lift your spirits – visit equivalenza to sniff their range and pick your favourite scent for the new season.

A Seasonal Tune-Up for your Well-Being

As you prepare for the autumn, don’t forget to take care of yourself too.  The change in seasons is a perfect time to schedule those health checks you’ve put off over the summer.

Book into Smile Dental Clinic on Level 1 for dental cleaning or a check up:

And if you need an eye exam or a hearing check up, there’s a choice of Boots or Scrivens at Meridian Shopping Centre – both on the ground floor:

It is true to say that if you have painful feet, it effects the rest of your body, and your general well being. You will be surprised at how much better simply “having your feet done” can make you feel – so why not get your feet set for the new season too, with About the Footings on Level 1.

Make this season one where you prioritise yourself and your health.  If you don’t know where to start, head to the Horizon Wellbeing Hub on the ground floor and ask about their Foundations Programme, which aims to provide you with the knowledge and support needed to make healthier lifestyle choices.

And if you need a body booster, why not book into Hampshire Blemish Removal (Level 1) for one of their Wellness Treatments, such as Chinese Cupping to help relieve muscle tension, which can improve overall blood flow and promote cell repair.

Planning for the Season Ahead

Finally, take a moment to plan for the months ahead.  Head to Holland & Barrett now to make the most of their Buy One, Get One Free offer on a range of family favourites ahead of the cooler weather.

And with autumn being a busy time, make life a little easier by planning your meals ahead of each week – this will also help save money as you’ll waste less food.

The Works – Meal Planner – £6.00

Embracing the new autumn season with a clean, organised space and a focus on health sets the tone for a productive few months ahead. By decluttering your home, booking those health checks, and planning for the season, you’re setting yourself up for a successful and enjoyable autumn. So, take a deep breath and step into the new season with a sense of readiness.
